FIAT FREAKOUT SPOTLIGHT 2025
Unique Wisconsin Venues Driving Tours
If autocross isn't for you, different options exist on Saturday.
On the Unique Wisconsin Venues Driving Tour, we will caravan out (about 1.5 hours) then you can pick between 2 venues unique to Wisconsin: The Cave of the Mounds or the House on the Rock.
The Cave of the Mounds:
Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1987, the cave of the Mounds offers a beautiful underground adventure. Besides the stalactites (c = ceiling) and stalagmites (g = ground - somehow I remember those from high school back in the 70s) found in most caves, it also has soda straws, flowstones, lily pads, curtains, helictites, and oolites.
This tour takes about 1 hour to complete. The Cave of the Mounds is considered one of the best limestone caves in the Midwest.
NOTE: Like most caves, no matter what the temperature is above ground, inside the cave, expect temps around 50 degrees F. If you take this tour, have something warm to put on.
The House on the Rocks
What began in 1945 as one man's desire to create a secluded getaway atop a chimney rock has evolved into a house you really need to see to believe. It takes up to 3 hours to take in everything here. From the original house to the many displays found throughout the house, the wonders never seem to end.
There is a music box room, a carousel room, an organ room (music, not human), a room of model airplanes, several gardens, a doll carousel room, and much more.
The highlight for many is the Infinity Room. The Infinity Room extends out 218 feet long over th evalley below. It has 3,000 panes of glass, so be sure to have your camera ready for some fantastic pictures!
No matter which option you choose to visit, a pair of comfortable walking shoes is definitely a plus!
